Planned Parenthood: “Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court Nomination is the Biggest Threat to Abortion in Years”

What Planned Parenthood paints as bad news is almost always good news for pro-life advocates and the people they are trying to protect.

The largest abortion chain in America, Planned Parenthood is panicking about the future of the U.S. Supreme Court. President Donald Trump’s second nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, could swing the court to a 5-4 conservative majority and be a deciding opinion on vital issues like abortion restrictions and Roe v. Wade.

In an email to supporters this week, Planned Parenthood warned that Kavanaugh’s nomination is the biggest threat to abortion in years.

“Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court is the biggest threat to our constitutional right to abortion we’ve seen in years. Trump vowed to only appoint justices who will overturn Roe v. Wade — so this is a fight we simply cannot afford to lose,” the abortion group wrote.

Planned Parenthood also blasted the nominee on social media.

“If the Senate does not intervene, the balance of the Supreme Court could turn against the constitutional right to access abortion. Tell your senator to #StopKavanaugh #WhatsAtStake,” it wrote Thursday on Twitter. “The fight for our health and rights is far from over. #savescotus”

Planned Parenthood also claimed support for its radical pro-abortion agenda by citing a poll that shows support for Roe v. Wade.

SIGN THE PETITION: Vote to Confirm Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh

“The numbers don’t lie: the majority of people favor personal liberty, affordable health care, and the constitutional right to safe & legal abortion,” it wrote. “Together, we can protect those our rights. 71 percent of the American public opposed overturning Roe vs. Wade.”

The poll is deceptive, though. While some polls indicate a majority of people support Roe, others indicate strong opposition to the permissive abortion law that it created. Roe v. Wade, coupled with its companion case, Doe v. Bolton, allows abortion for basically any reason through all nine months of pregnancy. As a result, the United States is one of only seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions past 20 weeks a fact confirmed by the Washington Post fact checker.

Polls consistently show that most Americans oppose most abortions. A Gallup poll found that more than half of Americans want all or most abortions to be made illegal. A Knights of Columbus poll from January found that 76 percent of Americans support significant abortion restrictions.

The American people want the U.S. Supreme Court to protect unborn babies’ lives, and it appears our nation’s leaders are trying to make that happen.
